New Hope Christian Church at 1400 S. George Washington Dr is collecting school supplies for the upcoming school year. If you would like to donate to such a worthy cause, please drop your items off at our church. The church hours are 9:00 am-2:00 pm Monday through Thursday. We need: No. 2 pencils, colored pencils, crayons, scissors, notebook paper (not college ruled), rulers, glue sticks, Elmer’s glue, Kleenex, 3 ring notebooks, spiral loose-leaf notebooks, socks, underwear (in case children have an accident at school, and any other item you might think of. Our donations help our school teachers not to have to purchase these items themselves. Please help us help our teachers and the schools. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.

You are invited to come and participate in making Homeless Sleeping Mats out of re-cycled plastic bags. We are in great need of people to help straighten out the bags, cut them into strips, and put them together in loops to make ball of plarn (plastic yarn). Of course, if you like to crochet we need help with this also. It takes 500-700 plastic bags to make one sleeping mat.

This event is located at New Hope Christian Church at 1400 S. George Washington Dr. It begins at 1:30 pm. This is a “come-as-you-can” event. We will be working until 4:00 pm. If you have the desire to help those in need, we NEED you! Hope to see you June 24!

We can use more plastic bags, but we need them to be straightened out flat.  We only need bags similar to what you receive at Walmart and Dillon’s in size and shape.  Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
